The Fantini Book showcased at Camera In Turin
The event in Turin at CAMERA, Centro Italiano di Fotografia, centered on the book “Report from the waterfront, Fantini Storie di una Fabbrica del Design Italiano” (“Report from the Waterfront, Fantini Stories of an Italian Design Factory”), published by Rizzoli, which recounts the history of the company’s development.
At the May 3 event at CAMERA, before a large audience of architects, journalists and Turin experts, as well as others, the speakers – Daniela Fantini, company CEO, and the book’s editors Renato Sartori and Patrizia Scarzella, with architect Matteo Vercelloni acting as moderator – talked about the structure and genesis of the book as well as the focal points of the story.
Starting with a macro vision of the environment in which the company was founded – Lake Orta, which is such a great influence on its business vision that it’s considered its true spiritual home – the book goes on to talk about the history of architectural and environmental projects like the company’s lakeside headquarters and the Casa Fantini Lake Time hotel, both designed by the architect Piero Lissoni. It also discusses the company’s most innovative products – which marked the company’s path of development, entered the history of Italian design, and are now international benchmarks for the most advanced trends in the sector. The view further expands to include the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility projects in Africa, in the Masango area of Burundi, where it built an elementary school for about 500 children and an aqueduct that brings clean water to 25,000 people, and its research at home, such as monitoring lake waters in collaboration with the CNR, Centro Nazionale Ricerche, of Verbania.
Finally, the book offers an international panorama of the most prestigious places where Fantini products can be found – hotels, private residences, public buildings – designed by the most important names in contemporary architecture.
A long journey that led Fantini from the small town of Pella to the whole world, and a wonderful history of Italian design, as Daniela Fantini pointed out: “We’re delighted to make a contribution to bringing beauty, creativity, excellence and the extraordinary quality of Italian design to the world.”
