The idea of creating a small hotel overlooking Lake Orta, opposite the island of San Giulio, came from Daniela Fantini and represents a piece of her particular entrepreneurial strategy aimed at enhancing the territory, where the roots of her family and the company are to be found.
The name Casa Fantini Lake Time: a true guideline for the architectural project de-signed by Piero Lissoni. ‘Casa’ (‘home’) because guests must feel at home. And then ‘Lake Time’, to specify its character. This is an expression invented by the Americans to indicate a holiday and a type of life “at the slow pace of the lake”.
The ‘slow time’, the ‘Lake Time’, and the mystical aura of Lake Orta guide the days at Casa Fantini, where the silence is magical and sometimes time seems to stand still. During the hours of the day it is not the clock that marks time, but one’s own personal inner rhythm.
Casa Fantini was born from a passion for the spirit of the place, for what is genuine and authentic and represents the culture of the area where my roots are. Here there is a rather extraordinary mix of design, architecture and the beauty of the natural landscape. It is a place where you can have a special emotional experience in the spirit of lake time, a time to devote to yourself and to savour beauty with the slow rhythm that the mystical aura of the lake and the silence suggest.

The hotel consists of two adjacent lakefront buildings. An existing building and a new building overlooking the garden, harmoniously linked by Piero Lissoni’s design. The compositional result is a successful example of possible harmony between old and new, where each part retains its own identity and expressive and morphological language, and where local materials, stone and wood, act as a bond between history and contemporaneity and integrate harmoniously with the landscape and the spirit of the place.
