In the 1970s, with the revolutionary “I Balocchi” series, Fantini established itself in the world of design, taking a place as one of the “Manufactories of Italian Design”.

With the launch of the “I Balocchi” series, designed by Mercatali and Pedrizzetti, Fantini implemented an irreversible revolution, sweeping away the past history of the faucet as a small functional accessory without identity, and making it the protagonist of the bathroom environment. This world traditionally linked only to metal suddenly took on a new colour and the playful and aesthetic aspect appeared for the first time in a product that until then had always been seen only as a technical element. Today “I Balocchi” are a historical icon of the company and rightly have a prominent place in the history of Italian industrial product design.

A characteristic of companies, like Fantini, that can be defined as “Manufactories of Italian Design”, is being able to create and build their own precise and unmistakable identity.

At Fantini some of the most important Italian and international designers are involved in product design.

The result that is characteristic of the company is that of having a wide range of formal and expressive languages, intentionally very different from each other but united by a thin common thread that can be defined as “contemporaneity” and by other more subtle formal characteristics – a certain lightness, a non-trivial elegance, a formal gentleness – that constitute the recognised characteristic of so-called “fantinity”.

Over the years we have received important Design Awards and international recognition.

These include the prestigious Compasso d’Oro ADI in 2020, awarded to AK/25 of the Aboutwater Boffi-Fantini collection, designed by Paik Sun Kim.
Some products are part of the permanent collections of important Design Museums in the world, such as, for example, Calibro, design Davide Mercatali and Paolo Pedrizzetti, chosen by MOMA in New York.

We believe that through partnerships with other businesses that share our vision, ethics and approach to design we can generate interesting synergies and design innovation. For this reason we have signed an alliance with Boffi, creating the Aboutwater collection, and started a collaboration with Salvatori for the Fontane Bianche project.
