Perry A. King
Perry starts out as an Industrial Design student in the UK. He moves to Italy in 1964 and does consulting work at Olivetti for various products, including the Valentine typewriter. Subsequently, as Design Coordinator of Olivetti’s Corporate Image Service, he designs dot matrix characters, books and posters jointly with Santiago Miranda; the two set up the Studio King-Miranda Associati in 1976. During several years, he is a Visiting Professor at the Architecture and Design Department of the Royal College of Art in London, and in 2000 he is awarded an RDI (Royal Designer for Industry) honor by the Royal Society of Arts in London. He is currently a Fellow at the University of Central England, at the Glasgow School of Art and at the Royal Society of Arts. He is member of the Chartered Society of Designers and ADI.
Santiago Miranda
In 1971, after graduating from the Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y Oficios Artìsticos in Sevilla, Santiago moves to Milan; in 1976, he founds the Studio King-Miranda Associati with Perry King in 1976. Before becoming a consultant for Olivetti’s Corporate Image Service, he designs and writes ‘Air Mail Transatlantic Pictures’, stories and images for an interactive park for loners. He is now an Appointed Professor at Milan’s Politecnico and a member of the Scientific Committee of the Istituto Europeo di Design in Madrid. He has held conferences and been part of juries in international competitions. He was awarded the Premio Nacional de Diseño Español in 1989, and Premio Andalucia de Diseño in 1995. Ph.
