Gianpaolo Benedini
After graduating in Architecture at Politecnico di Milano, in 1972 he started his professional career working as an architect as well as in the field of industrial design.
Thanks to the experience gained in these two parallel sectors he had a chance to carry out constant, extensive research on innovative construction processes involving both fields, particularly with regard to the restoration, renovation and construction of buildings for residential, commercial and industrial purposes. His experience also allowed Benedini to harmonise pure architecture and interior design; the criterion of functional rationality combined with a critical approach results in original solutions that always meet customer needs, often even resorting to pre-fabricated elements conceived for specific conditions and ensuring reduced costs and completion times.
By applying this design approach to various sectors – from electronics to healthcare, from home furniture, kitchens and bathrooms all the way to the automotive sector -, Benedini has been able to develop a wide range of products. In 1999 he founded Benedini Associati, which specialises in design, furnishings and interior architecture and was also joined by Bibi and Camilla Benedini. The firm has obtained important acknowledgements and international awards, including the German Design Plus, and short-listings for the ADI Design Index and Chicago Atheneum’s Good Design. In 2010 Benedini went into politics and was appointed as Councillor for Public Works in Mantova City Council. Ph. Courtesy of Benedini Associati.
